Move. Make Mistakes. Learn. Repeat.

In my time on this planet I’ve played many roles - husband, father, student, teacher, creator, explorer, and many more. I was born in Bakersfield, CA, and was drawn towards math and music in my formative years. I love patterns and I am curious how rhythm and melody combine to create intense shared human experiences.

This musical curiosity was expanded by my high school band director, Jeanne Johnson. With her instruction and encouragement, along with my budding abilities in percussion performance and composition, I landed an opportunity to study music at the California Institute of the Arts in the summer of 1997. I spent that summer studying with master percussionist and composer, John Bergamo, exploring several world music styles and modern, esoteric musical arrangements. The experience ignited in me a desire to push creative boundaries that I cherish and continue today.

In 2005, I used my percussion performance experience to join the San Francisco Renegades drum and bugle corps. While a member of this organization, I had the honor of performing with an extremely talented group of musicians under the guidance of Lee Rudnicki (Santa Clara Vanguard), Scott Johnson (Blue Devils), Murray Gusseck (Santa Clara Vanguard) and many other distinguished musicians. The Renegades would earn a 5th place finish at the 2005 Drum Corps Associates Open Class Finals in Scranton, PA

Following a move to Los Angeles, I became a percussion instructor and performer with the SoCal Dream drum and bugle corps for their 2006 season. The following year, I was named percussion caption head and battery percussion arranger of the corps. During my tenure with Dream, the organization would earn a 3rd place finish at the 2006 and 2007 Drum Corps Associates Class A Finals in Rochester, NY. The events of the 2007 season were capped with a promotional agreement between SoCal Dream and Dynasty Music, plus the birth of my daughter in 2008

Marathon Running

After transitioning from my drum corps life, I took on a new interest in marathon running. Over the next 11 years I would rack up nearly 20,000 miles of training and racing. During this time, I really developed in interest in data analysis, using my own body as the vehicle for data gathering and experimentation. After the birth of my twin boys in 2016, I set my sights on expanding my math and analysis skill set and enrolled in the business administration program at California State University, Fresno specializing in Data Analytics.
